How do I know if I need to use a capacitor, and how many Farads do I need?

A capacitor is mainly required only if you experience power-related issues such as dimming lights when playing music. The general rule of thumb is to use 1 Farad of capacitance for every 1000 watts RMS of total system power.

Good Cap. Charging board is WAY OVER KILL. No need for all that. Simple resistor is all that is needed. So only 4 stars. Keeping it real.

Feels well built. Nice weight. It says up to 1000 watts but that is most likely RMS. I didn't have any dimming problems but it definitely eliminated any distortion at max volume. Keeps the mids and highs sounding clean and crisp during bursts...especially with hard rock. I am pleased. Stinger has been known for good stuff for quite a long time now and this thing is well built and does what I needed it to do. The instructions and diagram for the charging bulb was vague at best and the charging board is overkill. A simple resistor would have worked just fine because that is what I used from another cap. Dear Stinger, no need to try and re-invent the wheel. A simple resistor will work just fine. Luckily I know what I'm doing. But pleased over-all

No charge/discharge bulb

There was no charge/discharge bulb included. Had to rig up a bulb to connect to cap. Not happy about that. Glad I have experience with these components. The cap works great despite the lack of important parts.

This kit is junk.

The only Stinger product is the Cap. The rest is no-name garbage. The 0ga power wire is not accurate. It is 4ga wire at most. I bought replacement 0ga power wire and it is true 0ga. It is literally twice the size as the wire provided in this kit. The interconnects are very cheap too. The only piece in this kit worth using is the Cap. What a waste of time.
