How do I know if I need to use a capacitor, and how many Farads do I need?

A capacitor is mainly required only if you experience power-related issues such as dimming lights when playing music. The general rule of thumb is to use 1 Farad of capacitance for every 1000 watts RMS of total system power.

It's capable of storing lots of power and acts as an accumulator. Solved the problem of dimming/flickering problem of my car .

It truly has a capability of storing lot of power and delivering instantly as per the sudden demand of the power amp. I'm using BOSS 2400w RIOT class D amp with Pioneer 12" sub with huge power input. If you have done correct wiring with correct gauge of wire believe me NO DIMMING !! NO FLICKERING !! I recommend 18 Farad or higher would be ideal if you are using a high power amp.. Many thanks to the seller for speedy shipping. I offer 5 stars all the way for everything.

Gives you that extra punch

Allows you to run a little smaller power cables to your amps. Small size with a lot of stored power. Study the wiring diagram carefully and identified the in and out on both the + & - terminals. Do it wrong and you will hurt the Led lights read out. The capacitor still will work but with no readout or light show which is pretty neat and impressive. It does draw a pretty big charge when you hook the power to it for the first time and if you unhook battery you need to turn on something to draw the power back out of it before working on the wiring to prevent being shocked by it because it acts like a battery.
