It is not designed for that use and it would depend on the padding in the helmet.

Is it designed to wear one and secure the other away?

The other earbud you aren't wearing will hang free unless you wrap it around your ear or tuck inside clothing.


Do the earpieces have magnets?

Yes. They stay closed and when you get a call and separate them the headphones will automatically answer the call. Real cool!
