Infinity Kappa 800W 8" 200mm High-Performance Car Subwoofer

This is a well made sub. I haul around lawn equipment in my cargo area where my JL 13.5” usually lives. Reading one of my favorite forums, diymobile, this woofer was touted as a great bargain SQ buy. Usually the recommendations are esoteric specialty speakers and audio equipment. My huge ported JL obviously is in a different league. However this subwoofer is crisp and the attack is fast! And fits behind the passenger seat. One is almost enough to match my very stout active front stage at full throttle. With the 500 watts from my JL 900/5 the sub breaks up at wide open. The sealed box is a tad big, .46cf. Overall this single 8” Infinity is a great value and enough the mature SQ listener. .

First off this speaker is very nice looking and feels of reasonably high quality with a very stiff cone. It is convenient because of the switchable impedance which I like. The only thing I will warn about with this subwoofer is the power rating. This sub handles 400-800 watts with ease on 2ohm and sounds pretty good, however I wouldn't push it any harder as it will overheat quickly.

I created a custom partial sub box (top and sides only to hold sub) as console would become the full box, installed this Infinity Kappa in my 2001 F150 SuperCrew and damnnnnn. It might be an 8 inch sub but it hits just about as good as a 12 - for me anyway. It also pairs up nicely with my Infinity Reference 6 1/2 component speakers.This sub puts my previous 8” JBL sub to shame and leaves it way behind. If you don’t have room for a larger sub, I would recommend this one without hesitation.

I wanted to do a free air install in the rear deck of my 2015 Hyundai Sonata, to avoid having box in my trunk but my installers talked me out of it. (Higher cost and not as good sounding) . So I have it in a box and not pushing it too hard, they recommended breaking it in first and this thing is plenty loud. I didn't want the excessive, exaggerated bass. Just clear, accurate bass. It definitely gives life to older mp3s with much needed oomph. I paired it with pioneer 5 channel amp and Morels maximo speakers in front and back. Music sounds much better and detailed

I put this awesome woofer in an enclosed box with no portal inside my 2016 VW beetle and may I say it’s tight and clear sounding. it truly is an awesome woofer being only 8in. The sounds inside my car sound like a pair of expensive headphones, so clear. thanks ????????????????????????
