Monoblock

A monoblock amplifier is a single-channel amp built to power subwoofers, delivering plenty of current into low impedance loads. This range covers Pioneer, Kenwood, JBL, Hertz, Infinity, DS18, Black Diamond, Hifonics, Sound Storm Labs, Boss Audio, Alpine and Clarion, from compact units like the JBL Club A600 and Kenwood X5001-1 to high-output models such as the Hifonics BG-3300.1D and Sound Storm Labs EVO4000.1.

Most are efficient Class D designs, with some Class A/B options from Sound Storm Labs and Boss Audio. Compare RMS power at your sub's impedance rather than peak figures, and check for features like a variable low-pass crossover, bass boost, a remote bass control or high-level inputs for factory stereos. You'll also need a wiring kit matched to the amp's power.
