Versatile eReader Containing Multi-Touch and Front Light

Introducing the Onyx Boox Nova 2, a versatile eReader that features multi touch as well as a front light system. Includes electromagnetic touch & capacitive touch, allowing writing with a stylus and operating with fingers on the portable eReader. It has front light with adjustable colour temperature system, making you enjoy reading during the day & night.

The Nova 2 has an elegant 7.8" display that fits more text than general size eReaders and is more portable compared to other standard large models. It is also glare-free even directly in the sunlight, making it readable in the sunlight just like on real paper.

With both Wacom stylus touch and capacitive touch, the eReader allows users to sketch, draw, and take notes. The eReader is also equipped with the new generation of USB Type-C, which means faster and more powerful transfers.

I'm happy with my purchase, but it is not perfect

I bought an Onyx Nova Pro, and so far it has been a very good purchase. I have issues with eyestrain when using my laptop and cellphone, so the Nova Pro has met several needs. I really love using it as a notepad. It is a smooth writing experience, and it saves a lot of paper. I also use it for casual web browsing and checking email. It is slower than a cellphone or the laptop, but for longer, casual web browsing sessions, it is much more comfortable for my eyes. The wi-fi on the Nova Pro is not stable. It cuts out at times. That happens less often after the most recent software update. They also promised months ago to upgrade to Android 9, and that still has not happened.I sometimes use it for reading short PDFs, for which it works fine. However, for longer PDF reading, I'll put it on my Onyx Max 2 because the larger screen is easier on my eyes. Bluetooth devices (e.g., keyboard, headphones) work well with it. The native apps are great, but other apps are hit-and-miss in terms of how well they'll work on the device. I mostly use the Amazon app, Kindle app, NeoReader, the Note App, Yahoo Mail, and Opera browser on it. The MS Word app works on it, but the screen is too small for serious word processing. Please note that the Nova Pro also is sensitive to the case you put it in. I ordered one case for it that had a magnet that created a deadspot on the tablet screen. I switched to another case (the Ayotu Skin case) that doesn't have that problem and works well with it.While I appreciate the device, I don't think you can incorporate it yet into a professional workplace workflow. I use it for at-home low-stakes activities. The Onyx devices are still a little too slow and not yet stable enough (in terms of consistent wi-fi, battery life, and RAM) to use it in place of your regular laptop. For instance, the battery on my Onyx Max 2 barely worked after a year, so now I can only use it when it is plugged into an outlet. I hope that will not happen with the Nova Pro.All in all, I'm really glad that I purchased the Nova Pro. It is not perfect, but it has enabled me to reduce my eyestrain greatly.

A problem when opening the packaging of the device

Hello When the device arrived and opened it, I discovered that the device is not wrapped and the cable also, it appears that the device was opened before arrival or that it is used

Good reading device, with some features...

Nice device, works fast. Specifically method for downloading the books - by using IP address in browser or through “send2boox.com”.Also, Boox has Android 6 instead Android 9, as advertised.

As an author - so far a PHENOMENAL tool

First off - I've only had the BOOX Nova Pro 7.8 for all of one day, so this is really just first impressions.Utility:I'd been looking for something like this for a while. I tend to do my best editing by printing pages then circling or crossing out sections with a nice red pen. This process is of course hugely wasteful in both ink and paper and I was trying to get by without paper printouts but missing constant errors.Within about 1.5 hours of setup time, I was circling and crossing items on my draft to my heart's content, and listening to music on spotify through bluetooth headphones (via the tablet) without significant issue. The UI is intuitive and the physical form of the tablet means can be easily held one-handed while I pace if I feel like I need to get up and move around.Setup was reasonably straightforward. Installed a few apps including gdrive, spotify, pandora, Nook and Kindle. None of them gave me any trouble. One small issue I ran into is they included a helper function that theoretically makes the screen easier to view on apps that were not designed to function with e-ink. I found I had to disable this completely as most apps became illegible.Next up - (haven't done this yet but soon) I'll be testing getting annotated epub files off the device and onto others to see what the results look like.So far, one of the best purchases I've made to help my creative process

Some Simple Changes would make it 5 star

First of all it is great I enjoy this products very much if it breaks I will buy another immediately. Now with that said lets talk about the elephant in the room the sharing capabilities is Lacking something fierce. I would like to share to keep, Drive, or one drive. That feature alone would have made this worth $100.00 more that I paid. I use this for writing on a pdf and then saving that page to one drive. so I can pull it up in my office the notes app does not allow you to make a image the background permanently. As A e reader it is fantastic, PDF pretty good, notes very good.but sharing features need to be added to the reader so you can share a page that you have marked up (easily) you can do a screenshot and share thru WiFi but I would like a share app like you phone has where you can share to apps installed that would make this perfect or at least a desktop companion app. that downloads everything in a certain folder once it sees a WIFI signal. in closing it is a very good product that I would recommend. 4 Stars

good

Good product, but some functions don't work as great as I'd like to... And something happened with screen rotation. Very difficult to download books But other functions are really interesting)

Perfect Device for Power Users

This is the kind of device you really shouldn't waste your time with if you 'just want it to work.' The real value is in learning to work with the device, learn its quirks and benefit from the fact that this (effectively) no-name e-reader is a surprisingly powerful thing. At its core, it is an Android tablet featuring a reasonably good E-ink screen. If you wish to use it as a tablet, you will be disappointed. But if you use it as it is intended, It's really great. You can read PDF's and Epub files easily. Each app can be configured to refresh faster or slower as needed, to preserve battery power. The backlight is the best I've ever seen, with a mixed option between white and warm colors.Drawing isn't as detailed as your average Wacom tablet, but it feels better than drawing on a phone or tablet to me. Though I agree that the pen is so light that it feels like a toy.Synching files might require you to use their poorly supported app, but despite the Chinese symbols on some of the options, it isn't hard to figure out.To re-cap, I would say don't buy this if you want a super smooth experience, with nothing standing between you and your next book. But if you are an Android user, or are used to tinkering to optimize your devices, I think you'll enjoy this little thing. When properly configured, it has crazy battery life, and I'm guessing it will be my e-ink device for the next decade or more.I'm glad I took the risk on this reader.

PDF features not quite as good as they say

I bought this to use mostly for PDFs based on the statement that you could do a lot of tweaking to view PDFs better. This did not turn out to be true. I had a difficult time getting it to display properly and my Kindle Oasis actually displays PDFs better. So I sent it back. Very disappointed because I wanted to get the bigger eink screen.

False promises to get the sale

I like the idea of Onyx's Boox: tablet functionality with an e-ink display. Unfortunately, they're not some large conglomerate so their business model seem to revolve around two things - a premium price and getting that sale "No Matter What". Case in point, the Nova Pro which probably still has a promise that Android 9 is coming "soon" in its title. That promise was part of the tipping point for me purchasing this tablet. In the time since that promise was made, they've released a new generation of tablets (all with 9.0 as their base) and have not mentioned when "soon" will come. With that in mind, I will relay to you the advice I got from previous Boox users that I chose to ignore: do not buy this tablet based on any promises made, they will probably never come. Get it for what it does now and assume its security or lack of security will remain the same. If you're comfortable with that, buy it. If not, look elsewhere. This will probably be my last purchase from Onyx.
