Outstanding replacement for Pionner TS series!!!

These were easy to install to replace the Pioneer TS series speaker in the door. WOW much better bass and musicality. I recommend these 100%. Also going with the 4 in Alpine speakers in the dash which have also had great reviews. I am not currently using an external amp but direct power from a Sony head unit.

Alpine SPS-610

I have to say that I was not expecting a whole lot from any 6.5" speaker but that is what fits in my car with out cutting. I only purchased one set for the front doors. When I fired up the stereo, WOW was i impressed! What a full tonal range! I know that sound is very subjective but I believe if you have a built in EQ, you should have no trouble getting the tones you are looking for out of these speakers. I like crisp highs with just a slight bit of mids and nice tight low end. These speakers did the trick. (Please do not think that they will replace a sub) I liked them so much, I just ordered a second pair for the back doors.

Excellent

I just place my purchase for this Alpine type S speaker. I'm really love Alpine in car entertainment and can't wait for the item to arrived. Part of my project installation on my STi. Thanks so much.

Top-tier sound

The sonic specialists at Alpine optimize their SPS-610 6-3/4" speakers for great range and impressive tone definition, even at low power levels. You can connect these versatile Type-S Series speakers to your factory stereo for an immediate sonic improvement, or hook them up to a powerful aftermarket stereo or amp for increased performance. Mineral-fortified polypropylene cones are exceptionally stiff, yet lightweight, which means they can push out accurate bass and deliver clear midrange. Resilient rubber surrounds help keep the woofer centered for accurate cone movement, reducing distortion. Silk dome tweeters bring out all the details in your music. Not a bad speaker to replace factory ones if you're on a budget. The only thing I didn't like is that the grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations. Shame on you Alpine for selling them separately for ridiculous prices.Read full review...

If you preffer clarity at a lower price, these are perfect

I got this pair of speakers for my rear doors in a subaru wrx. Required a spacer to install. Overall the sound from these speakers is great, total improvement over the factory co-ax's. With the built in crossover you're able to send more power to these speakers without distorting them. The crossover cuts the lows a little too much (in my opinion), so having a sub to fill in the gap is definitely helpful, but they do produce low end frequency's quite well.. you just aren't going to be vibrating your door panels off.Overall i love these speakers, I'm powering them through the factory head unit with a clarion XC1410 4 channel amp. They are nice and clear, could use a little more low end, and trim a little off the high end (the tweeters really scream at times). For the price you really cannot do any better.Read full review...

Reasonably priced, well built, and an excellent sound for the price.

Great speakers for the price. I wish they didn't have the bass blocker because these have some great potential for lower bass. Alpine did this for cleaner sound. My Pioneer headunit has a high pass filter for the speakers already. (A high pass filter/crossover cuts out low bass frequencies) By cutting out the low bass from other speakers I've found you can get much louder, and a cleaner sounding system. Now, with these speakers, that frequency cut out has already been done for you so you don't need any special radio.I do highly recommend using a 10 or 12 inch subwoofer in conjunction with these to bring out the lower octaves. These have a really nice mid bass punch to them. They "hit" really well. Again, the low bass is cut out but from 80-200hz these are the best I've heard yet and they really do make some nice sound. These are some solid 6.5" 2 ways. I bet if I dropped one it wouldn't bust to pieces. I wouldn't DARE though because it was $56 for the two and they're great. All in all these are a great middle of the road set of speakers. For the average Joe (or Jane) who wants some better than stock sound at a good price but doesn't really care for extra bass (or already has a subwoofer) these are a perfect fit. Of course there are better products out there but they are hard to find and very hard to find at this price. I have never been dissapointed with anything I have bought from Alpine. They have done a fine job engineering these speakers.Read full review...

Very good buy, awesome product!

First impression is the clarity of these speakers. I listened to Polk's, Infinity, Sony and Kenwood. These Alpine speakerssounded the brightest and clearest. They handle a modest amount of bass but are really not made to pound out the bass like a subwoofer does. Best bet is to buy a set of these for the front and rear doors of your car and a seperate sub and sub amp for your trunk. Then blend the sounds together and you will be very happy. I would not hesitate to buy these speakers again.

Good for the money, run off HU or amped, but you will still need a sub

I bought this product to replace OEM door speakers on a 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R. I chose these for the Alpine price-to-quality ratio, for the fact that I can run them off head unit power now and an amp later, and because the materials they are made from (plastic basket, poly cones, rubber surround) will stand up well in my econo-box car very poorly weather-sealed doors. I also like big silk dome tweeters. They do come with plastic mount adapter rings, which is nice; but I made 1" thick mounts out of MDF and Masonite, coated with truck bed liner, gasketed with 1/8" closed-cell contour foam, surrounded by a mineral wool baffle diffraction ring. Currently powered with an aftermarket Kenwood HU (typical 20WRMS or so), they sound far better--insofar as HU-powered speakers CAN "sound better"--than stock in the midrange and highs, although they do have a slight "suck-out" at about 2500Hz (probably due to woofer beaming). Also, assuming these tweets can handle it, IMO the crossover to the tweeter should probably be set closer to 4-5kHz than the current 8kHz, which would help in the 2k-4kHz region (perhaps another cap paralleled with some alligator clips fixes this?. I am still using the Nissan POS stock 1/2" PEI dome A-pillar tweets for raised soundtage (tweets soon to be replaced with something better), but added some 2.2uF caps in series to increase their xover from 8kHz to 24kHz and these Alpines do marry well with that. These Alpines do poorly with lows (below 125Hz or so), but that is to be expected from anything this small in an (admittedly not well-sealed) IB application; without some major reconstruction of the car, no door- or deck-mounted speaker is going to give you real bass. These speakers soon will be mated to a Dayton Audio RSS265-HF 10" trunk-mounted subwoofer (in a 1 cuft sealed enclosure) all powered by a 4-channel amp (in 3-channel mode 75Wx2@4ohm, 12dB HPF TBD about 80-125Hz + 250Wx1@4ohm, 12dB LPF 50Hz), with nothing in the rear deck, and then I believe they will truly shine.Read full review...

Very good speaker for the price.

I purchased this for my son's car and found these to be well built, and easy to install. I fount the quality to be top notch, as I would expect from Alpine. I only wish they had a bit more sound. However, that is most likely due to the fact that they are currently being powered by the head unit, with no secondary amplification.
