Aperion Verus II Grand Bookshelf Speaker (Pair, Black Gloss)

Take the novel sonic design and classic cabinetry of our Verus Grand Tower speaker, then condense them to produce a bookshelf speaker that knocks your socks off. Now that you're barefoot, you might as well sit back and let your ears and eyes delight in the Verus Grand Bookshelf.

This speaker uses our patent-pending ASR tweeter to bring in the high frequencies, and our brand new 5" mid-range driver with aluminum phase plug to round out the sound. With gorgeous curved cabinets—finished in either gloss cherry wood veneer or gloss piano black—the Verus Grand Bookshelf is sure to swivel heads for both its stunning sound and looks.

Perfect for use as front speakers in a small home theater or as surround speakers in a larger home entertainment center, the Verus Grand Bookshelf will bring your music, movies and games to life. And if you're worried about your socks, we'll throw in a pair.

Features

New One-inch Aperion Axially Stabilized Radiator

We engineered the new silk dome ASR to handle frequencies beneath most tweeters. Now the mid-high frequencies emit the same crystalline tones as their counterparts in the penthouse. From the pluck of a violin string to the screech of tires, the result is pure, authentic sound.

5" Kevlar Midrange Driver with Aluminum Phase Plug

One mid-range driver with aluminum phase plug increases the Verus line’s power handling and dynamic range, filling the middle of the sonic spectrum. By recreating the full harmonics of a singer’s voice, the Verus Grand speakers produce vocals as rich as the Rockefellers.

Furniture-Grade Finish

The slim curves of the Verus line’s first-rate cabinetry make us think "supermodel"—but the primo acoustic qualities means she'd have to sound as good as she looks. The finishing touch for every Verus speaker is a high-gloss cherry-wood veneer or piano-black lacquer that’s so right for every décor, your coffee table will be jealous.

5-way gold-plated binding posts

Bi-ampable is the techie way of saying you can connect one amplifier to the woofer and the other to the combined mid and tweeter. Separating the low- and high-frequency wiring helps eliminate interaction, isolate power and reduce distortion.

The 5-way gold-plated binding posts let you connect your speakers any which way you choose: bare wire, banana plugs, spades, round pins or flat pins. Not only does the gold plating give your system some bling, it also serves a more practical purpose: to resist corrosion and provide the best possible connection to your receiver.

Magnetically Held Perforated Metal Grilles

To protect the speaker innards from accidents, pets or curious fingers, the entire Verus line sports perforated metal grilles that let sound flow through unchecked, improving imaging and reducing high-frequency reflection. Hidden magnets hold the grilles in recessed baffles.

Wall & Ceiling Mounting

You can mount your speakers wherever you want -- out of the way and outside the reach of inquisitive children and pets. All bookshelf and satellite speakers come with dual 1/4"-20 threaded inserts on the back for ceiling or wall mounting. Industry standard spacing of 60mm on these inserts means they’ll work with a variety of wall and ceiling mount brands.

"I purchased these just for the sake of trying them to take advantage of the 60 day in-home audition. I auditioned these and did A/B testing with KEF LS50 and sent back the LS50s. I am using them for a stereo setup paired with a Yamaha A-S801. The Verus have a wider sound stage much more sweet sounding. I listen to classical music, orchestra, pop, easy listening stuff. They say the LS50s have a hologram-like imaging to its sound, but after I listened to the Verus IIs with its wide sound stage which makes me feel like I'm there, that hologram effect on LS50s went away. I found out the LS50s are overrated, but it is all personal preference which is why we should audition. I can't believe how good these speakers sound for the price. I am also using a sealed Rythmik subwoofer with a low crossover only for the lower notes, which you almost have to have a subwoofer with bookshelf speakers."

product info product info product info product info product info Not neutral like the old Verus speakers
"I was on the fence with regards to choosing between Verus I and II, so I purchased both. The Verus I is more neutral and doesn't sound as sweet as the Verus II. The Verus II sounds sweet, which can become tiring if you listen to a lot of rock music like me. My tastes run the gamut from rock to south Asian to heavy metal, electronic and a bit of female vocals. The II's do sound great with female vocals, but I object to the departure from neutrality which their predecessor had. My personal preference for a speaker voice is neutrality and musicality without excessive emphasis on details. Ryan R610 bookshelves nail this down very well, and they are $2000 a pair. Obviously, a Verus buyer doesn't have $2000, so what options do they have? The Dynaudio Emit series is a good option for bookshelves for under $1000, and are clear and transparent speakers which Danish speakers are famous for. Revel M16 is another option which might work for some. Fit and finish are excellent, and so is customer service. However these speakers didn't work for me sound-wise and I ended up returning both pairs."

"Through the Aperions, those wispy accoutrements fell right in place in the soundstage, depth-wise. And Lindsey's acoustic riffs during the chorus rang through the room with exactly the right amount of sparkly sizzle..."
