Received this Garmin Fenix 6X Sapphire exactly 2 days after ordering it on December 19. I went through Amazon because I have always trusted them that It’ll only take 2 days to process it-guaranteed! It deed! And if there’s a problem with a product, return isn’t a problem as well.As to the watch, though pricey, it has all the bells and whistles I expect that will help measure and guide my performance in my marathon come March 15, 2020 at White Sands Missile Range, Las Cruces, New Mexico. I have only checked a third of its features and I’m impressed already. Its rugged but refined look typifies an expensive smart watch which I think is way better than an Apple Watch in regards to features! This will make an Apple Watch, even with their newest series a definite run for their money. I’ve checked the series 5 before I bought this one, but wasn’t impressed, although I’ve owned their earlier series, 1 & 2(Nike Plus). This watch is highly recommended for people who do a lot of outdoor activities, sports and mountaineering expeditions like I do. Simply put, I’m totally satisfied!

Fenix 6x is functionally rich. On the looks, the Fenix 6x Sapphire Black DLC with leather bank looks elegant. The contrasting colour of the Chestnut band with Black DLC gives a fine touch. The actual watch looks very different from the photo that has been provided by Garmin. Included a photo of the Fenix 6x Sapphire Black DLC with Leather band.

PLEASE NOTE: Read this entire review.I love the appearance and battery life of the Fenix 6x. Up to 21 days of battery life!(Depending on mode[s] and usages)It is great for tracking distance and steps during walking, hiking, and running; indoors and outdoors. A+Moving on:The Garmin Fenix 6x is NOT great for tracking and calculating true calories burned during weightlifting. It has a "strength" training profile you can use to track weightlifting, but it in no way is a "start it" and go.The strength profile is cumbersome and inaccurate; it under-tracks the workloads and amount of weights used, the calories burned always end up short, much less than actually burned.The way this watch and its training software is setup,it will have you stopping constantly in the gym to attempt to accurately document your sets and reps. The strength profile on this watch also has an rep auto detect mode, but it would constantly end a set, during a set...in between my reps! I wasn't done, and a lot of the times I would find the watch thinking I had completed a set, when I hadn't yet!I do not work for Polar or Garmin.What I will admit is, I've been a bodybuilder and weightlifter for 25 years and I owned a Polar M600 before this watch. Buying this Garmin 6x REALLY made me miss my Polar watch every time I went to the gym.After buying the Garmin Fenix 6x and putting it through its paces,Here is my conclusion:IF you are a runner, hiker, mountain climber, explorer, or just love to walk, then BUY the Garmin Fenix 6x. PERIOD. The steps pedometer, gps tracking, Garmin Companion app, and battery life are all out of this world- GREAT!BUTIf you are an amateur or IFBB Pro bodybuilder, physique competitor, or if you just spend a lot of time in a gym lifting weights,THEN you really need to look at a POLAR smartwatch instead.Tons of training profiles w/ Polar, that are all 1 touch select and go's.Polar is the Pioneer of heartrate tracking, and theirs is superior, even to the Garmin super watches.PS: My Garmin Fenix 6x was also plagued with a bad screen/illumination. When you turned on the illumination on my 6x, everything turned a light blue. Including the black background. Zero contrast and tint means with my defective screen display, all colors when illuminated were washed out.Rated this watch a 1 star because at $1,000,it IS completely UNacceptable for a watch of this price, caliber, and craftsmanship to have such a defective screen. Once Garmin stops shortcutting the quality of screens used this will stop happening. And yes, it happened to more than just me. If you Google around a bit, you will find threads of massive complaints on the illumination and quality of the screen on this series of Garmin.Getting a 6x with a good screen is a lottery luck of the draw.Dear Garmin, as an electrical/mechanical engineer, the screens you have chosen to be ok with, and use in your flagship watches, have utterly ruined and tainted my experience with your company. The displays remind me of something from the early 2000's. It is 2020. And you are charging nearly $1,000 for this watch with the display of what looks like something from an entry level, $100 watch. If I worked at Garmin, there would be NO way this screen would have ever gotten the green light for use in mass manufacturing. The displays used are embarrassing and SHOULD embarrass you as a company whole.Set aside my defective screen and backlight:This Garmin Fenix 6x watch will be MISSED.Jason
